PAT Testing

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 places a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take practicable steps to ensure that no dangers result from the use of portable electrical equipment.

Does this mean all office equipment must be tested by a qualified electrician every year?

No, the law requires employers to assess risks and take appropriate action. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing completed by a competent person.
